The language here is about to get salty.

In therapy, we don’t filter or edit ourselves. We tell it like it is. So, that’s what I’m going to do here.

Some of the most common reasons people reach out to me are listed below. Can you relate?

“I’m fucked up.”

Don’t worry, so is everyone else.

Fortunately, I have a lot of experience with fuckedupedness from both sides of the proverbial analyst’s couch.

More importantly, I’ve helped lots of people figure their shit out, and I’d be honored to help you, too.

“I fucked up and can’t forgive myself.”

This is a stiff cocktail comprised of equal parts regret and guilt. (If you’re Irish Catholic, pour yourself a double.)

But don’t panic (because that’s a whole different disorder), we will exorcise the guilt demon.

Once free, you will come to terms with your past and find inner peace.

“I’m afraid that fucked up things will happen.”

This is anxiety rooted in the “mistakes I might make…” and “bad things that might happen…” kind of thoughts.

Do not despair. We will tame the anxiety monster and learn lots of skills to keep it at bay.

As you worry less, you’ll find yourself feeling stronger and more able to conquer life.

“Our relationship is fucked up.”

Unhealthy relationships are often a perfect storm of “me” problems and “us” problems.

Warning: the hardest part of couples therapy is learning to control anger and defensiveness.

Silver lining: if you can do that, your relationship will become stronger than ever.

“My kids are fucked up.”

Kids are designed to push our buttons and test the limits of our sanity.

It’s very confusing because we love them so damn much, but we just can’t help losing our shit when they refuse to stop acting like children.

We’ll deal with this on two fronts – fixing them by learning to manage their dysfunctional behavior and fixing you by developing tolerance and resilience.

“What the fuck am I doing with my life?”

Ahh, the existential crisis. A tangled web of confusion, questioning and over-analysis.

Strand by strand, we will untangle the mess.

If you aren’t ready to find your true purpose, at least we can kickstart your life and help you figure out your next step toward enlightenment.

I Get It. And I Get You.

Let’s talk about the thoughts that race through your mind and make you feel anxious and out of control.

Let’s face the feelings of sadness or hopelessness that drag you down and the fears and disappointments that eat away at you.

Let’s work through the conflict that is ruining your relationships.

Hi, I’m Andre.

Let’s talk about all of it, but let’s start with an important assumption: there is nothing wrong with you.

You are not broken or beyond repair. You are simply experiencing an abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation.

Your reactions to this chaotic and confusing world are a result of your nature (genetic predisposition to depression, anxiety, etc.) combined with nurture (life experience, trauma, shame, guilt, and social forces that have shaped you).

The good news is that you can learn to manage your nature and heal from your nurture.

I wrote this website in the most honest, direct, and real way possible because those qualities enable me to create genuine and meaningful connections with my clients.

If it strikes a chord with you, let’s set up a time to talk so I can answer your questions and give you a better sense of what it’s like to work with me.
